Default Group B 2008 Euro Cup Predictions

2008 EURO CUP Soccer Betting - Group B Predictions

As the soccer betting world turns to UEFA EURO Soccer betting, set to kick off on Saturday June 7, 2008 with Group A soccer wagering action, what lies ahead for football betting enthusiasts at BetUS Sportsbook is an exciting summer month of football betting. So to get you started wagering on the prestigious UEFA EURO CUP, here is a look at the four Groups, continuing with Group B that holds European soccer titans Germany, the undaunted Croatians, co-host nation Austria and Poland.

Group B: Germany, Croatia, Poland, Austria

Austria

Co-host Austria has a weakness: their problem is in defensive tactics and the lack of useful passes. As a home side favourite, they may surprise in the competition but the reality is they face a steep learning curve at this level. They have a modest squad and coach Hickersberger has delayed the announcement of his No.1 keeper. Scheduled to kick off their campaign against an imposing Croatian side, the odds are stacked against the Austrians. So much so that they are in danger of finishing at the bottom of their Group.

Germany

Soccer titans Germany can achieve a lot in this tournament. That being said, in order to launch a successful campaign, they willl need to address problems in the back line. Germans are known for their international experience at this level and their quality. Although they enter the championships without Klinsman who led them to a semi-final finish in World Cup 2006, the rulers of European soccer are expected to be imperious in the Group stage. With three championship titles in their illustrious soccer history a fourth for the Germans is not entirely unlikely. Favoured in Group B, expect the Germans to reach the knockout stages at the very least.

Croatia

Croatians were impressive in the run up to the UEFA Euro Cup. One look at their qualifying record and naysayer's be silent. Croatia has one of the best squads in this years championships that can measure up even with the best European powerhouses. In fact, they can hold their own against the Germans, so much so, that winning the Group would not be a surprise. Opening their campaign against co-hosts, Austria, it will be important for the Croatians to get off to a winning start. Since they are a much better team than the Austrians their opener should be straight forward. As I see it, Croatia will advance into the knockout stages.

Poland

High expectations precede Poland in the championships, but the way I see it is another performance short of expectations – not unlike their outing at the 2006 World Cup. Sitting in the same Group as Croatia and Germany, Poland is a long shot bet in Group B. Indeed, the winning start of the championship will be vital for the Polish but unfortunately they are up against Germany. Their team has a tendency to unravel after an opening defeat but now with the advent of Coach Leo Beenhakker they hope that history is behind them. The Polish side is stronger than the Austrian team, but weaker than the favourites Germany and Croatia. Of course anything can happen in theory, a chance to enter the knockout stages, but if the favourites live up to their billings, Poland will settle for a third place finish in their Group.
