2008: Year of the LION

Yeah, you heard me. Now, hear me roar, NFL fans.

Sure, I know we went 7-9 last year. But that's a heck of a lot better than the 3-13 we did the year before. But there was a time when the Lions were a playoff team and that time is coming round again.

See, I know there's a lot of smack to be talked about my Detroit Lions. I mean, Matt Millen wouldn't even get his foot in the door in most other ball clubs these days. We extend his contract. And can you even name another team that would win the coin toss going into sudden death overtime and elect to kick off? Exactly. There isn't another. It's like a parade of idiots.

But everything must change, and I am telling you that this is our year. Don't believe me? Just sit back and watch. You'll see who's on top by the end of the year.

What, Barry Sanders is coming out of retirement? Haha. Hey man I'm originally from Michigan and would love for what you say to be true, but the fact is, I wouldn't bet on it. Though your lions have a better chance than my horrible Miami Dolphins I now have to live with! Maybe one of us will get lucky this season, cause talent is not gonna do it.

You definitely have an interesting way of thinking! Even my dog fell over laughing when I told him that the Lions still had a fan out there that believed the Lion's would be on top at the end of the season.. Yeah, even my dogs not that hopeful.

Aw, now, see that sort of talk never did anybody any good. After all, a few years ago we could have been having the same laugh about the Tigers. You know, it's funny, though that you mention Barry Sanders. I had a little sign that they passed out at Monday Night Football a few years back. It read, "Go Barry!" on one side and "Go Charlie!" on the other, as in Charlie Batch. Looking back, it's like the end of an era on one side of the sign and the beginning of the end on the other.

But things'll still turn around this year. Just you wait and see.

Charlie Batch as in the Steelers' backup Charlie Batch? I didn't even realize he used to be a Lion. Shows you how much I pay attention. But, you know, he got a little bit of action this past year and didn't do all that bad of a job.
