Yes we were on Florida Atlantic as our play of the day last week when they took on North Texas on the road as 1 point favorites. The out come was a perfect offensive attack that yielded 0 turnovers and just 2 penalties something that the Owls were struggling with all year long. Before last weeks game they were 110th in scoring and that was due to their red zone play and penalties. They were finally catching a break against a beatable defense and I had to jump on! This week is no different in my opinion actually Laffayete played North Texas and beat them by 4 points, but that was on their own turf while FAU went on the road and won 44-40.

The issue for FAU still the defense, Coach Schnellenberger said, “We will work like hell with the defense so we can find a way to hold our opponents to a lot fewer points.”

Defense that is ranked 110th overall has had a tough schedule now getting in the middle of their Sun Belt schedule they should be able to bring that number down as they have faced an average 53rd ranked offense.

Where does FAU have the advantage, well I spoke about the defense and they are ranked 117th in rush defense, but they’ll catch a break this week as Laf’s leading rusher Undrea Salis out with fractured leg. Despite 8 new starters FAU’s defense is better than they have shown as they have faced an average 41st ranked rushing attack this weekend they will face the nations 54th ranked rushing offense without their best running back.

Running game which is their weakness on offense should be a strength on Saturday. Alfred Morris who does lead the Sun Belt in rushing yards will go up against the 90th ranked rush defense in the nation. FAU is ranked 68th nationally in rush offense, but have faced a defense average of 47th. Their strength has really resided in their passing game (21st) behind QB Rusty Smith who led the team and now has 1252 yds 8TD 3 INT. Chris Bonner became his favorite target last game with 6 catches for 134 yards.

Bottom line FAU is better than they are getting credit for and it shows here once again. Earlier in the season they struggled punching the ball in the end zone, but I think they gained a lot of momentum in their last game by being able to score TD’s. After all they were playing some tough defenses before last week they had played an average 43rd total defense and 48th in scoring which led to them struggling to score points in the red zone. Saturday they will play the 79th overall defense and 97th scoring defense.

Actually ULLAF on paper is even worse than what North Texas is they have a worse offense 84th to UNT 58th, and worse defense 79th to 68th for UNT. Both playing similar talent. I expect a close game once again, but for FAU to come through in the end with the outright win Take FAU +3!

Take Steelers -5.5 1-Dime Free
We picked up an easy win yesterday on FAU +3 as they cruised to an easy outright victory! Today we'll be on the home favored Steelers against the undefeated Vikings.

This is a big chance for the Steelers to get into the talks of being the NFL's best team as nobody has mentioned them as being one despite being the reigning Super Bowl Champions. I expect a big time game from the Steelers and I expect them to flex their muscles.

Vikings are off to a great start, but they have struggled against solid teams and that was in their own building where they collapsed last weekend against the Ravens and had a prayer against the 49ers. Don't get me wrong I like this team, and I think they are among the NFC's elite, but who have they played on the road. Let's have a look shall we? Road games @ Browns, Rams, and Lions arguably the three worst teams in the NFL. They have faced an average defense ranked 22nd, and today they'll face one of the best getting their star player in Troy Polamolou back. This is not a great time to be going on the road especially for a dome team. Take the points with the Steelers!

Yes, Baylor.... Nebraska may be mad about last weeks embarassing loss to Iowa State, but that does not mean they will definitely win here on Saturday. Actually I think Baylor could win this game out right. Baylor might be struggling on offense right now without their star QB Griffith lost for the season, but their defense is holding it together relatively well. Nebraska has not been able to do anything on offense and that showed last week. News flash for Nebraska backers they have not faced any defenses worth a darn. Overall they have faced an average 79th ranked defense, and in my eyes are over rated. Zac Lee has to be better if he is starting here and he probably will be I guess it can't be any worse, but don't be surprised to see Baylor take some chances here at home. This team wants to win, and the passing game is capable still of putting some yards on Nebraska who has faced an average 61st ranked passing attack. Look for htis to be a low scoring game as the Corn Huskers are really struggling as of right now. As bad as Baylor has been this might be their one and only shot at a win so look for them to come out motivated.

I'm 6-4 on free college football plays this year and I'm back at it tonight with my college football predictions. It's not a premium play for me as I went back and forth a bit with the total for the under, but the inability for Toledo to keep opponents under 30 and their ability to score points as well as Central Michigan's motivation after their 31-10 loss kept me from making this a premium pick. Now with that said I think the only play here is on the Chippewas and I'll tell you why.

Dan LeFevour will be playing on Sunday's next year he is the MAC's version of Tim Tebow. Toledo won't be able to stop him their offense is ranked 101st in the nation and that's against an average ranked 84th offense so you know they are as bad as they look. They can't get off the field on 3rd downs and they are allowing opponents to score 89% of the time in the red zone and have just 11 sacks on the season. That all does not sound good to me and Toledo on offense has a lot of talent, but they won't be able to keep up with Central Michigan here who will be able to do whatever they want as Toledo's defensive front is among the smallest in the MAC.

If Miami (OH) Zac Dysert can throw for 344 yards and 60 yards on the ground what do you think the conference's best QB LeFevour will do? This could get very ugly early and I predict it will. Look for a 3 TD game as Toledo can score some points, but the question marks at QB allow me to take Central Michigan for a small bet here on Wednesday. In their last game they had 3 QBs in the game and I think the same might happen tonight Opelt's shoulder is still not 100% although he'll give it a go. After that the inexperience could cause for alot to go wrong as Central Michigan at 7-2 has their eyes on the MAC title and more! They are not happy about losing to Boston College and will show it here tonight. I don't normally play big favorites like this, and I looked for a reason to play Toledo. Unfortunately I could not find a single reason.

Only common opponent was Western Michigan where Toledo lost 26-58 at home while Central Mich won on the road 34-23. Central Michigans ability to score and keep opponents off the scoreboard and on the other hand Toledo can't keep opponents off the scoreboard allowing just 1 opponent to score under 30 points.

Take USC -10 1.1 Dime Free PlayStanford is in for a huge let down here as they visit USC not only did they beat up Oregon last week at home who also beat USC, but they beat a top ranked team and now they go on the road to USC. The only loss Pete Carrol has had at home in quite some time was when he was favored by 41 points in 2007 and Stanford came in and pulled off the crazy upset. USC, and Pete Carrol will have that in mind on Saturday at home against Stanford coming off a big time win. I think all the concentration will be there for USC something that has hurt them at times this year.

Stanford is not a good road team they are 1-3 away from home and the PAC-10 is just one of those conferences that pose a huge advantage when you are at home. Stanford is 8th in the Pac-10 in scoring and total defense and they will be hurt from the loss of Clinton Snyder. That gives USC a huge advantage up front and they will turn lose their backs McKnight and Bradford for a huge ground game. Stanford will face their most challenging task on offense when they face a very physical defense and I don't see how they can get out with enough plays to keep this within 2 TDS.

Take UL Monroe -3
I'm going with Monroe here they have faced a stronger offensive opponent all year long and have put up much better defensive numbers. Lafayette likes to run the ball and they have done it well against a 97th ranked rush defense this year. However, they will go up against the best in the Sun Belt in terms of rush defense and an overall 26th ranked. Monroe on the other hand should be able to run all over Lafayette ranked 95th in the nation against the run and Monroe ranked 30th. I look for the aggressive Monroe LB to make plays in the backfield and for this game to be a close one, but in the end it's Monroe getting the win and running the clock out won't be a problem. n Take Uconn -13.5 1-Dime Free
Both teams are off emotional victories but it's Uconn who has more to play for and that's a bowl game. I know Syracuse is solid against the run limiting opponents to 2.8 ypc, but Uconn has a 1-2 punch like no other, and Syracuse is banged up and it's going to show here today as they are missing NT Arthur Jones, MLB Derrell Smith, and SS Max Suter. Last week's win against Rutgers was extremely impressive especially to me as we had Rutgers as our POD. I'm human just like everyone else sometimes we just miss and I'll put that in my back pocket and remember what I learned from that game. Rutgers was playing for more than just their 1st Big East win. They were playing for recruits on what was a huge recruiting weekend for them last week and Rutgers shares many of those recruits with Syracuse so a good showing was a must and a record setting 8 sacks on freshmen Savage did the trick. However, traveling to Storrs to play in just their 4th out door game of the year they are due for a huge shock as they won't be competitive in this one. Uconn is big up front and has the offensive line to protect Fraser and he's doing enough in the passing team to keep Syracuse honest. Syracuse is averaging just 9 points out doors this year I see a similar result from last year when Uconn won 39-14.
