Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., wants to legalize online gambling in the U.S. by repealing the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). A hearing on his proposal is scheduled for Tuesday. UIGEA prohibits the transfer of funds from a financial institution to Internet gambling companies. Frank’s proposal would create an exemption to UIGEA and allow online betting.
