Just a couple days after online gambling operator Sportingbet said it was nearing a resolution to US legal inquiries, PartyGaming has also announced progress in negotiations with the US government. CEO Jim Ryan says the company expects to reach a settlement by the end of the year concerning gambling by US citizens before the UIGEA ban.
Despite an earlier agreement by PartyGaming co-founder Anurag Dikshit, Ryan states that he doesn't anticipate any criminal plea deal by company executives, nor does he think the dollar amount will approach Dikshit's fine of $300 million. Some observers were worried Dikshit's unusual plea without being charged could prejudice the case against PartyGaming.
