LISBON - The Lisbon Village Council updated its tax laws during its Monday evening meeting to make them compliant with Ohio law.

Village Solicitor Virginia Barborak said one new provision in the tax code will allow any money won as a result of online gambling to now be taxed at 1.5 percent, which is the same amount at which other forms of income are taxed.

"The last time our tax code was updated online gambling really wasn't a factor," she said.

Also during the meeting, council passed a resolution to transfer $16,434 from the Construction Improvement fund to the Water Plant fund, with $2,365 paying off the remainder of a general obligation bond to Huntington Bank and the rest remaining in the fund.
