The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has received negative responses from many not only in the US but all across the world. At a time when the rest of the world seems to be regulating the industry, the UIGEA was put in place to stop online gambling.
Apparently, it is not only the US government that is cracking down. Police raided a cybercafe at Jalan Air Itam in Malaysia on Friday and they have seized thirty computers that were being used for Internet gambling purposes.
The authorities claim they were not looking to bust the people that were gambling, but rather are trying to find the people they are betting with. There is a widespread effort to stop these illegal operators.
