In a field as stacked with talent as the WPT World Championship it takes a player with a lot of skills to hang around the top of a leaderboard for more than a day, especially in the late stages of world-class MTT, and Danish poker pro Gus Hansen has done just that. He is currently sitting in second place with 2,929,000 behind chip leader Amir Vahedi, who has 3,907,000. Vahedi only displaced Hansen when play reached the long, slow hand-to-hand monotony at the end of the day when the last player needed to go so that officials could close up shop for the night. During that time, Vahedi won a monster pot from Robert Mizrachi to propel him to the top of the heap and Hansen doubled up Jeff King to take a hit and bring him back down to earth. This pushed Hansen out of the lead for the first time of the day but only dropped him to second, just above third-place Tom "durrrr" Dwan (2,874,000), who lost a prop bet at the beginning of the tournament and is still wearing a ridiculous clown-looking hat at the table. In the end, two players would bust out at the same time, Mark "Newhizzle" Newhouse and Scott Epstein, leaving 17 players to come back later today and play down to the WPT televised final table. Among the players who will be back to battle it out are David Tran (2,543,000), Michael Gracz (1,674,000), Kenny Tran (1,442,000), Cory "ugotpzd" Carroll (1,346,000), Robert Mizrachi (1,079,000), CardPlayer's Jeff Shulman (473,000) and Andy Black (411,000).
