The Laker's potent offense puts up 109.0 points per game at home this year, which is a good thing considering they don't have much concern for defense. You can't blame the Lakers for giving up over 100 points per game this year. Simply scoring as much as they do accounts for higher point totals for other teams because they get to take more shots. Enter Philadelphia to tonight's match up, scoring about 97 points per game while giving up just under 99 points per game. I think it's reasonable to expect that both teams reach 100 points, much like they did in their first meeting this year (LA won 114-102 in Philly).

St. Mary's Gaels -4 over Washington State

The Gaels are probably still feeling a bit slighted by the NCAA tournament selection committee, so what better way to prove them wrong than to come out with their guns blazing in the NIT. Besides the motivational factors that may or may not impact the game, I just think St. Mary's is the better basketball team. Their offense was great this year, particularly in home games where they averaged 80.1 points per game. As if that weren't impressive enough, their defense only allowed 62.7 points per game as well. For those of you keeping score at home, that's an average home win of just over 17 points per game. The Gael's only loss at home this year came against the NCAA tournament boundGonzaga Bulldogs and I certainly don't see this Washington State team, that averaged just 59.3 points per game on offense this year, to hand St. Mary's their second home loss of the season.
