| NFL: Betting the Draft Darren McFadden and Matt Ryan are two elite prospects, and now you can bet on which one will be selected first. Click here for all the props for the NFL Draft which begins this Saturday. Sportsbook.com is also offering a Mini Mock Draft contest where you can get a 200% Win Bonus. Which Player will be Drafted First? Darren McFadden (-180) Matt Ryan (+140) Ryan is the top-rated quarterback from Boston College and it’s somewhat surprising he’s the underdog in this prop because he could go #3 to Atlanta. McFadden is the speedy and explosive running back from Arkansas. The earliest he’s expected to be drafted is #4 by Oakland and there’s heavy speculation that will happen. If Ryan drops past Atlanta, then #5 Kansas City and the #6 New York Jets should both be interested. If McFadden drops past Oakland, then look for him to go no lower than #6 to the Jets. Of course, there’s always the Wild Card of another team trading up for one of these players, but that seems unlikely at this juncture. Number of Big Ten Players - Round 1 OVER 4.5 (-180) UNDER 4.5 (+140) Any discussion of the Big Ten has to start with Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long. Long has signed with the Miami Dolphins already as the No. 1 overall pick. Ohio State defensive end/outside linebacker, Vernon Gholston is a surefire Top 10 selection. After Long and Gholston, there are two more Big Ten players who should comfortably go in the Round 1. They are Michigan State wideout Devin Thomas and Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall. Thomas is considered the top wide receiver in the draft by many scouts while Mendenhall and Oregon’s Jonathan Stewart are thought to be a notch below McFadden. There are a number of other Big 10 players who could slip into the first round, which is what makes this prop so interesting. Michigan quarterback Chad Henne, Indiana wide receiver James Hardy and Michigan receiver Mario Manningham are the three most prominent names. Jonathan Stewart – Draft Position OVER 20.5 (-160) UNDER 20.5 (+130) Stewart is an interesting player because his draft stock has fluctuated as much as anyone. He has a rock solid physique at 5’10”, 235 pounds and he has the strength to run inside as well as 4.48 speed to turn the corner in the NFL. Stewart rushed for 1,722 yards last year at Oregon including 253 in the Sun Bowl. The one question surrounding him is durability, He was nicked up during college, and he just had surgery on March 12th for a turf toe. Stewart’s stock dipped after the surgery but most teams now feel he’ll be healthy for this season. There are a number of first round teams interested in him including #14 Chicago and #15 Detroit, but they’re also considering Rashard Mendehall. Dallas might also scoop Stewart up at #22 if he’s still available, but that puts him on the Over side of this prop. |
