Default 2008 Baltimore Ravens NFL Betting Preview - Betus Sportsbook

    Baltimore Ravens
    2007 Record: 5-11
    ATS: 3-13
    Super Bowl Odds: 66-1

The Ravens went 13-3 and won the AFC North division title in 2006, but last year they completely fell apart on route to a 5-11 season, including a league low 3 ATS wins. That result cost head coach Brian Billick his job, and now John Harbaugh has to get the franchise on track. Harbaugh’s first task will be to decide whether to use Kyle Boller or Joe Flacco at QB. Boller was the likely choice to get the starting gig, but the Ravens drafted Flacco with their first round pick. The Ravens scored 100 fewer points than any other team in the AFC North last year. Their numbers could take a hit this year if the offense stumbles behind Boller or Flacco, we will have to work without the protection of surefire hall-of-famer Johnathan Ogden who just retired. Baltimore’s defense, once revered as one of the best in the league, also crumbled last season as it tried to weather injuries and short stints on the field by the offensive unit.

The Ravens added a couple of new pieces to the defense in CB’s Frank Walker and Fabian Washington and they’ll be hoping for a healthy campaign from team leader Ray Lewis. A contender in the past, the Ravens suddenly find themselves looking up at the rest of the league. If Flacco can’t develop into a starting QB quickly, they could stay in the basement of the AFC North for a while.
