Online Sports Wagering - NFL Betting Begins Now!
Are you ready for some football? I am! It’s never too early to start thinking about wagering on the NFL. The BetUS online sportsbook has NFL odds on which teams will win their respective divisions, the Super Bowl, individual MVP honors etc.
That makes it imperative for NFL online wagering fans, which means all of us, to start placing those online NFL bets. This is particularly true when it comes to making online future wagers. The BetUS online odds on teams to win the Super Bowl will change dramatically over the course of the season. Heck, the online odds could change dramatically over the course of training camp!
No worries my fellow NFL online betting buddies! I’ve got the scoop for you below!
Let’s get to it!
Best Super Bowl Winning Online Wagers
1. Pittsburgh Steelers - - BetUS online odds 24 to 1 - - I really don’t see why this team can’t do it. Big Ben has more weapons then Iran and the Patriots shouldn’t be nearly as good this season as they were last season. I’m also not that high on the Chargers. Jacksonville is a good team but they didn’t do enough in the off-season to take that all important step forward. Pitt will need some luck to get through the league’s toughest schedule, but I think they’ve got what it takes.
2. New Orleans Saints - - BetUS online odds 25 to 1 - - After this team wins their first six games in a row, you will start kicking yourself for not taking the 25 to 1 odds. Jonathan Vilma has looked great at the middle-linebacker position which means if the Saints’ defense could stop the run, then they could win a Super Bowl. That offense will be improved as well.
3. Indianapolis Colts - - BetUS online odds 7.5 to 1 - - I like the Colts much more then I like the Patriots or Chargers in the AFC this season. The Colts will have a better defense and they’re smarting from last year’s playoff loss. That makes them the team to beat in the AFC. I don’t see any reason why they can’t have one of those magical seasons ala 2007.
4. Dallas Cowboys - - BetUS online odds 9 to 1 - - The Cowboys might fall off some which is why their odds are at 9 to 1 instead of 5 or 6 to 1. In any case, it doesn’t make much sense to worry about it. This team will either make it. Or, they won’t. There are few excuses at this point in the game. As long as Tony continues to try to score with the ladies instead of on the football field, I have my doubts, but the odds say they’re worth a shot if only because the rest of the team appears extremely focused.
AFC Championship
This is a no-brainer. The two best online wagers on the board are the Pittsburgh Steelers at 12 to 1 and the Indianapolis Colts at 5 to 1. The online odds on the Jaguars at 8 to 1 is tempting but the Jags needed to improve defensively and they didn’t. Also, Matt Jones might have a coke problem which is never a good sign for any person, much less a professional athlete (you mean you couldn’t wait to get upstairs to cut up the coke?). I won’t touch the Patriots at 1.75 to 1. They can win the Super Bowl, no doubt, but they lost last year and after studying the betting lines it appears that NFL defenses started to figure out that vaunted offense as the season wore on.
NFC Championship
The Cowboys are a terrible online bet at 3 to 1. The odd are just too low and if they do manage to make it to the Super Bowl, then the 9 to 1 online odds on them winning it makes much more sense. The Saints at 10 to 1 is the best online bet in this category, but I also like the Seahawks as a flyer at 11 to 1. If the Packers would take their collective head out of their asses and start Brett Favre, Green Bay at 11 to 1 odds would be an absolute steal. I don’t like the Giants because I can’t see them repeating.
To Win MVP
This award could go to a number of people. I’ve listed the top five online betting overlays that I see in this category.
1. Ben Rothelisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers - - BetUS odds 18 to 1 - - He could definitely put up Tom Brady like numbers this season with a slew of weapons at both the running back and wide receiver positions. Big Ben also has to do this against some very good teams. That should impress the MVP voters!
2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints - - BetUS odds 14 to 1 - - Brees gets a healthy Robert Meachem to go along with his tough wide receiver corp. Reggie Bush will most likely become more of a scat-back this season and there’s nobody who isn’t excited about Pierre Thomas at the RB position. Brees is Brees which means efficiency will lead to a lot of touchdown passes!
3. LaDanian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers - - BetUS odds 6 to 1 - - LT is going to have another spectacular season, like always, but the difference will be that he might have to carry the load more this year than last year. Why? I just don’t believe Philip Rivers is the answer. Opposing defenses will expose Rivers early which means Norv Turner will have to count on LT to do his best Emmitt Smith impersonation. That means LT goes nuts like he did two years ago.
4. Jamal Lewis, Cleveland Browns - - BetUS odds 25 to 1 - - This is my long-shot to win the MVP this season. Even though a lot of NFL online wagering fans are keying in on Adrian Petersen, I love Lewis this year. The Browns will need to keep pressure off of Derek Anderson which means giving the ball to Jamal 25 to 30 times a game. Petersen for the Vikings has that “I might get injured” look about him, but Jamal is a truck. This would be a very good online bet to make at overlaid odds.
5. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts - - BetUS odds 5 to 1 - - The online odds are better on Peyton then they are on Tom Brady at 3 to 1 and I just don’t see how Brady puts up anything close to what he did last season. Manning will keep his team under control and winning games. The MVP voters will look kindly upon that.
