Nuggets Outscore Warriors, Solidify Hold Over Eighth Seed

I've run out of adjectives to describe any game involving the Denver Nuggets or the Golden State Warriors, so lets just say tonight's game involving both lived up to it's offense-heavy, defense-free expectations.

The Nuggets were down by as many as 16 points, but were able to come back behind some zone defense and pull off the 114-105 win.

Golden State came out the gate running (as usual) behind a raucous crowd, and looked poised to run Denver out of the building with a 37-22 lead after the first quarter. But the Nuggets shifted to a zone defense to take away easy buckets, and were able to comeback, take the lead, and keep the Warriors at bay the rest of the way.

The stars were out for both teams in this contest. For the Nuggets, Allen Iverson had 33 points while Carmelo Anthony had 25.

The Warriors were led by Baron Davis and Monta Ellis. Ellis had 29 points while Davis had a triple double: 20 points, 11 assists , and 10 rebounds.

The Warriors needed to beat the Nuggets to take the eighth seed in the West. Both had the same record, but the Nuggets held a series lead over the Warriors which put them ahead in the standings.

With the loss, the Warriors will likely need to win the rest of their games and hope the Nuggets lose out in order to get in the playoffs.

The Nuggets easily covered as 4.5-point underdogs in the contest.
