Default National Basketball Association Game Capsules

Cleveland, OH (My Sportsbook) - Hedo Turkoglu scored 23 points and Orlando used a dominant fourth-quarter effort to overcome a pedestrian performance from Dwight Howard and knock off the slumping Cleveland Cavaliers, 101-86, at Quicken Loans Arena. Turkoglu shot 8-of-14 from the floor and also grabbed four rebounds to go with five assists, while Rashard Lewis went for 21 points and hit all eight of his free-throw attempts. Jameer Nelson played a near-perfect game at the point, scoring 16 points, handing out nine assists and committing zero turnovers. Orlando (48-28), which had already clinched the Southeast Division title, secured the third spot in the Eastern Conference by creating more distance between itself and fourth-standing Cleveland, which has dropped five of seven. Delonte West led the Cavs with 19 points and four assists, but LeBron James hit just 6-of-22 field-goal attempts for 17 points. James did grab seven rebounds and hand out nine assists, but 16 Cleveland turnovers contributed to a second straight loss.

Final Score: Boston 101, Charlotte 78

Charlotte, NC (My Sportsbook) - Leon Powe scored 22 points and hauled in nine rebounds as the Boston Celtics crushed the Charlotte Bobcats, 101-78, to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference. James Posey poured in a season-high 19 points for the Celtics, who have won six straight and will have home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. Eddie House gave 16 points off the bench, while Tony Allen recorded 12 points. With the win, the Celtics also set an NBA record for the biggest single-season turnaround. With a 61-15 mark, Boston has collected 37 more victories than it did last season, when it finished with a 24-58 record. The visitors were never challenged, despite the absence of their big three. Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were given the night off and Paul Pierce was in Boston as his wife gave birth on Friday. Emeka Okafor netted 17 points for the Bobcats, who have dropped three of four. Earl Boykins ended with 15 points, and Raymond Felton had 11 and 10 boards. Jared Dudley finished with 10 points in defeat.

Final Score: Atlanta 92, Philadelphia 85

Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Joe Johnson finished with 22 points, and all five Atlanta starters scored in double figures, as the Hawks topped Philadelphia, 92-85, in the second game of a home-and-home series. Josh Smith had 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Al Horford grabbed 12 boards to go with 10 points for the Hawks, who lost at home on Friday, but rebounded to win their sixth out of seven contests. Marvin Williams scored 18, and Mike Bibby 10 for Atlanta, which holds the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, two games back of Toronto for seventh, after the Raptors lost at New Jersey on Saturday. Andre Iguodala led Philadelphia with 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the 76ers missed out on a chance to move within two games of Cleveland for the fourth seed, as the Cavaliers lost earlier in the day to Orlando. Instead, the Sixers fell back to sixth, as Washington broke a tie with Philadelphia, and claimed sole possession of fifth by topping Chicago.

Final Score: New Jersey 99, Toronto 90

East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - Vince Carter finished with 32 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, as the New Jersey Nets defeated Toronto, 99-90, to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Richard Jefferson scored 28 for the Nets, who remained four games behind Atlanta for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks beat the 76ers in Philadelphia on Saturday. Rasho Nesterovic finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Raptors, who had already clinched a spot in the postseason, but failed to pick up ground in the East. Both Philadelphia and Cleveland were ahead of Toronto, and lost on Saturday. But the Raptors remained in seventh, one game back of Philadelphia for sixth. Atlanta, the eighth seed, moved to within two games of the Raptors. Chris Bosh scored 18, grabbed 10 boards, and had six assists for Toronto, which has lost three in a row and four of five.

Final Score: Washington 99, Chicago 87

Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - Brendan Haywood scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the short-handed Washington Wizards over the Chicago Bulls, 99-87. Washington played without Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas, but still claimed sole possession of the fifth-seed in the Eastern Conference with the win, breaking a tie with Philadelphia, which lost to Atlanta earlier in the night. Jamison was nursing a sprained right shoulder, and Arenas (knee) sat out for precautionary reasons. The Wizards are now just two games behind Cleveland for the fourth seed. Caron Butler added 18 points and eight rebounds, while Darius Songaila and Roger Mason chipped in 14 points apiece for the Wizards, who out-rebounded their counterpart, 53-28. Chicago was led by Ben Gordon's 18 points off the bench. Larry Hughes recorded 16 points and Tyrus Thomas 12, but Chicago is all but assured of being on the outside looking in come playoff time.

Final Score: Sacramento 118, Denver 115

Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Kevin Martin scored 36 points, and made all 13 of his free throw attempts, as Sacramento held on for a 118-115 win over Denver, as the Nuggets fell in the conference standings. Francisco Garcia had 29 points, and Mikki Moore finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds for Sacramento, which played without Ron Artest (thumb) and Brad Miller (leg). No one else reached double-digit points for the Kings, who still won their fourth straight. Denver got a monster night from Carmelo Anthony, who scored 47 and grabbed 11 boards. But the Nuggets lost for the second time in three games, and fell into a tie with idle Golden State for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference. Both teams are a full game back of idle Dallas. Linas Kleiza had 28 points, and Marcus Camby finished with 14 rebounds and 11 assists.
