After the Los Angeles Lakers survived a must-win Game 5 for basketball betting enthusiasts on Sunday night, the NBA Finals head back to Boston for Game 6 on Tuesday night. Down 3-2 in the sports betting series, the Lakers have their backs against the wall again and need to find a way to topple the Celtics at home at the TD Banknorth Garden. Will this be the final game of the NBA season, or will NBA betting fans get one more kick at the can in a deciding Game 7 later in the week?

Boston could have finished off the Lakers in Game 5, but they failed to capitalize on all their opportunities late in the game and lost 103-98 as a 7.5-point underdog. The Celtics are now an impressive 5-0 ATS in the Finals.



The Lakers may have won on Sunday night, but they didn’t make it easy on themselves. For the second straight game the Lakers jumped out to a big lead only to watch Boston chip away and make it interesting. The Lakers blew a 23-point lead in Game 4 and nearly blew a 19-point lead on Sunday night before securing the win late.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 25 points, while Lamar Odom decided to show up for the entire game and posted 20 points and 11 rebounds. Pau Gasol also got in on the act for Los Angeles with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Leading Boston in the loss was Paul Pierce, who deposited a game-high 38 points to go along with six rebounds and eight assists. Ray Allen chipped in with 16 points, while Kevin Garnett by his own accord “played like garbage” with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Garnett’s poor performance included missing two free throws that would have tied the score late in the game. Garnett was in foul trouble most of the night, partly due to the absence of starting center Kendrick Perkins. Perkins missed Sunday’s game due to a shoulder injury, but he is expected to return for Game 6.

With Game 6 being played in Boston, the Celtics are a 4-point favorite on the NBA odds to finish off the Lakers and hoist the Lawrence O’Brien trophy for the first time since 1986. Tip-off is 9 pm ET with ABC handling the coverage.
