| NBA Basketball Championship Betting – Can Boston Close Out? Boston had a chance to come back, but the Black Mamba struck again with a stealthy steal on The Truth followed by a thunderous jam that got the LA crowd to its feet, and pushed this sports betting series to a definitive Game 6. Why do I say, “definitive”? If LA manages to win tonight, they have all the momentum heading in to the final game of this basketball wagering series. LA Lakers (57-25) vs. Boston Celtics (66-16) Tuesday, June 17th --- TD Banknorth Garden, Boston --- 9:00pm EST Series: Bos 3-2 NBA Betting Line: Boston -4 (191) That, however, is a massive “if”. The Lakers are 0-5 ATS in their last five games and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 road games. Despite the heroic play of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers are still having trouble closing out this contest for NBA betting fanatics. And the truth is that their role-players, like Vujacic and Radmonavic, are having trouble being consistent. Vujacic, at least, was tossing blunt daggers from beyond the arc in an effort to get going. The Celtics are getting a tight online betting line because all signs are pointing to pivotal big man, Kendrick Perkins, needing a few more days to heal an ailing shoulder. That’s a big loss down low for the Celtics, who saw Kevin Garnett get in to foul trouble early on in Game 5. The Big Ticket has had big trouble getting his motor revved in these playoffs from an offensive standpoint. Pau Gasol has successfully bullied him defensively, though KG has been vicious on the boards and a presence that demands a double team when necessary. The problem for Boston is that Pau has been playing out of his mind. The Big Spaniard has 17.2 points per game in these playoffs, and has scored at crucial times when the momentum has slipped from the Lakers. Of course, when I think back to Game 2, all of this fluffing for the Lakers is thrown in to the “regardless” category. Boston’s crowd sends the Celtics in to seventh gear, and even Kevin Garnett grows to respond. Granted, the Lakers are a very calm and collected road team, but blowing teams out has not been their forte lately. The Celtics are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games and 5-2 SU in their last seven. To imagine them not closing out the series tonight is almost unthinkable. The Celtics fans are rabid for a championship and nobody can blame them considering how piss poor they’ve been playing for the last two-and-a-half decades. Bet on the Celtics to overcome the onslaught from the Lakers tonight despite Kobe’s best efforts. The Lakers are a great team. There’s no doubting that. They’ll be a fixture in the NBA Finals for at least the next five years. Tonight, however, they are going up against an immeasurable force. This Boston team, perhaps the second greatest team ever assembled, playing in front of a crowd chomping to devour their storied rivals, will be a virtually impossible environment for KB24 to win in tonight. But, hey, this is the NBA, where amazing happens. For my money, however, I’m sticking with the guys in green. NBA Betting Line: Boston -3.5 (OVER) Last edited by Qbins Missile Crisis : 06-17-2008 at 11:36 AM. |
