    Default Mayfield cleared to drive

Jeremy Mayfield has been cleared to drive after testing positive for a banned substance that was determined not to be a performance enhancement drug.

Under the sport's toughened policy, that leaves the possibility that Mayfield tested positive for abuse of a prescription drug, narcotics or controlled substances, such as cocaine, marijuana or methamphetamine
Since when aren't these drugs performance enhancing?

NASCAR allowed him to drive a race car at Darlington Raceway at speeds up to 173 mph? That's nuts!

It would be interesting to hear other driver's reactions to this development. You have to wonder how safe they feel with him behind the wheel at those speeds.

My information was wrong as Mayfield remains on indefinite suspension. At least they are keeping him from getting behind the wheel until they figure this mess out.

I think NASCAR has made the right decision here. Nothing scarier than a guy doped up and doing 180 mph

The latest. An attorney for Jeremy Mayfield said he’ll take legal action to have Mayfield’s NASCAR suspension lifted. What?
