What's Up With Dale Earnhardt Jr.?

Junior fans are going to kill me for this, but here’s my take: As cool and as fun as Junior can be, he lacks a certain amount of professionalism in comparison to a driver like Jimmie Johnson. For example, while Junior is complaining about too much testing, Johnson wants more. I know Junior wants to win and I know he has the talent to do so, I just sometimes wonder if he has the total commitment necessary to be a top dog.

I’ll give Jr. a pass but until his odds approach 20 to 1 instead of the 7 to 1 bettors were getting on him most weeks like last week in Vegas, I won’t be making wagers on him any time soon. He's certainly not his Papa.

I know for sure JR. would never go to Europe...he probably can't find it on a map, but this news today out of Busch camp was interesting....

Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch said the timing isn't right for him to race in Formula One for the new F1 team based in Charlotte.

"I have not been talked to yet, but I do toss the idea around," Busch said. "It's something I'd love to give a shot one day. It's not something I would shoot down, but I don't think it's the right time in my career to do something like that."

This would be pretty interesting, I can't remember the last NASCAR driver to make it in open-wheel racing over in Europe can you?

It is way to early to write Jr off for this season. While he may not have the same style as his teamate Jimmie Johnson, he does have the ability to race. His early season bad luck won't continue and he'll be back near the top as the chase begins to heat up.

I think is about time for all the Jr. apologist to realize he isn't that good of a driver. It too bad though...NASCAR would be better off with him winning every other week instead of DNF every other week.

While Dale Jr may not be considered the best driver, his record shows he is a good driver, if fact I would say a very good driver.

I guess he is a lot like his dad in that people either love him or hate him. Judging from the fact he is the face of NASCAR, I would say those who trash his ability are certainly in the minority.
