As I wrote in the BetUS Locker Room on Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox, (29-19, 20-28 RL) are starting to find their stride – and are making myself and the online sports betting sox fans look good in the process, having won each of their last two sports betting contests in the BetUS Sportsbook as I correctly predicted.
Enough about that however as BetUS MLB bettors want to know what’s going to happen in tonight’s online betting matchup –and I have the dead-on answer to tonight’s sports wagering winner.
After getting no-hit by Boston’s lovable Jon Lester on Monday in a 7-0 loss, the Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals, (21-24, 23-22 RL) 2-1 on Tuesday, getting another spectacular start from rookie Justin Masterson, who was called up from Double-A to make his second start of the season.
Tonight, the Red Sox will hand the ball to amore accomplished big leaguer in right-handed veteran Bartolo Colon who will make his first start as a member of the Red Sox.
Colon won the AL Cy Young award as a starter for the Los Angeles Angels just three seasons ago but has struggled mightily since, winning just seven games over the past two seasons combined while battling elbow and back injuries. However, Colon has gone 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA in three starts for Boston’s Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket.
"We knew he was going to be a big part of what we're trying to accomplish here," Red Sox infielder Alex Cora told his team's official Web site. "It was just a matter of time getting him healthy."
The Royals will hand the ball to veteran right-hander Brett Tomko (2-4, 5.32) who is coming off a solid performance in his last outing, limiting the Florida Marlins to two runs in six innings.
"It's nice to get on the W side and get back on track," Tomko said. "I felt like I was in control for the most part."
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my analysis and MLB Betting Picks.
The Royals are 4-0 in their last 4 when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.
The Royals are 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road underdog of +151 to +200.
The Red Sox are 5-0 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter.
The Red Sox are 5-0 in their last 5 games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.
The Over is 4-1 in Tomko’s last 5 starts overall.
The Over is 4-0 in Red Sox last 4 during game 3 of a series.
The Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
The Royals are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings.
The Royals are 5-15 in the last 20 meetings in Boston.
Analysis: While no one really knows what to expect tonight out of Boston starter Bartolo Colon, I say it’s a good thing he’s facing the struggling Royals in his first start this season. Take the Red Sox to stretch their season-best winning streak to six game with another big victory tonight.
