Default MLB Baseball Betting - 2008 MLB World Series Odds

With the 2008 Major League Baseball sports betting season quickly approaching the one-quarter mark; this BetUS MLB betting-related baseball article will take a look at the MLB Futures Odds to win the 2008 World Series in the BetUS Sportsbook.

With all the daily MLB online betting action being covered by an array of MLB handicappers in the BetUS Locker Room, including all of tonight’s sports betting action, let’s get the ball rolling with this quick glimpse into the future.

MLB Odds To Win 2008 World Series

Looking’ Good: This group of teams is either leading or tied for their respective division leads and generally has looked very good in the opening stages of the 2008 MLB season.

Boston Red Sox +450 (24-15) first place AL East

The Red Sox are in first place despite not being nearly anywhere near close to clicking on all cylinders.

Arizona Diamondbacks +800 (23-14) First place NL West

The D-Backs are very, very real – and built for sustained success if you ask me.

Los Angeles Angels +850 (22-16) tied for first place AL west

The Angels have won already won one World series under manager Mike Scioscia and could get a second this season if their pitching holds up.

Oakland Athletics +4000 (22-16) tied for first place AL West

Surprise, surprise, but the A’s will need to prove they are in it for the long haul when the season’s second half starts.

St Louis Cardinals +2000 (23-15 first place NL Central

The Cardinals were expected to be mediocre this season but have overachieved in a big way – just like when they won the World Series two seasons ago.

Florida Marlins +5000 (22-14) first place NL East

The Marlins are another big surprise team, but remember, this franchise already has won two unexpected World Series championships in the brief history of their franchise.

Minnesota Twins +7000 (18-17) first place AL Central

The Twins always play the game the right way and usually give themselves a chance despite being one of the smallest market teams in the American League.

Still A Chance: The teams that reside in this group are just out of first place in their respective divisions or has demonstrated some ability that they could be capable of winning their respective divisions before possibly going on to win much more.

Philadelphia Phillies +2000 (21-17) second place NL East

The Phillies have plenty of pop at the plate, but pitching is once again, a huge issue in Philadelphia.

Chicago Cubs +1400 (21-15) second place NL Central

The Cubs are definitely contenders, but just like Philadelphia, they have issues, particularly with their pitching staff.

Los Angeles Dodgers +2400 (19-17) second place NL West

The Dodgers have tons of young talent and the best manager in all of baseball in Joe Torre. Too bad they’re in the same division as Arizona this season. Still, a playoff berth is possible.

Baltimore Orioles +15000 (19-19) third place AL East

Okay, okay, this could be wishful thinking here, but the Orioles have looked good all season long.

Cleveland Indians +1500 (18-18) third place AL Central

This team simply put, will not stay in third place in the AL Central for much longer and could legitimately win the AL Pennant this season if their pitching holds up and C.C Sabathia returns to his 2007 Cy Young form.

New York Mets +750 (18-16) third place NL East

This is a talented, but troubled ballclub that is underachieving in a big way once again this season after historically collapsing down the stretch last season. He doesn’t deserve it, but manager Willie Randolph could be gone soon if the Mets keep playing like they’re still in some sort of ‘Tee-ball’ league.

Chicago White Sox +2500 (18-17) second place AL Central

World Series winners just three seasons ago, the White Sox have surprised under fiery manager Ozzie Guillen. This team’s pitching will either make of break this team.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays +5000 (20-16) second place AL East

They may not be World Series ready just yet, but being ahead of the New York Yankees at this late juncture of the season is definitely a plus.

Houston Astros +5000 (20-17) third place NL Central

This team was expected to be really mediocre this season but has overachieved in a big way. However, this team could use more quality pitchers like staff ace Roy Oswalt in the worst way.

Atlanta Braves +3000 (18-17) fourth place NL East

The Braves haven’t really hit their stride yet and will find it tough to win the National League Pennant this season, though anything’s possible for a club being coached by the venerable Bobby Cox.

Not-Looking-So-Hot: While discounting any of these teams at this early juncture of the regular season could be a mistake of epic proportions, it’s clear to see that each of these teams could be in a season-long struggle just to reach the postseason, more or less win the 2008 World Series.

New York Yankees +750 (19-19) fourth place AL East

Their record says the Yankees aren’t that bad, but I’m going on record right now to say that this team misses out on the postseason altogether this season in the improved American League.

Detroit Tigers +1200 (16-22) fourth place AL Central

The NBA’s Washington Wizards called Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James overrated before the start of their first round NBA series. Maybe they meant to say the high-priced Detroit Tigers are overrated, because they certainly are.

Seattle Mariners +5000 (14-24) last place AL West

Expected to be AL Pennant contender this season, the Mariners pitching is a mess after phenomenal starters Erik Bedard and Felix Hernandez.

No Way Jose: Though it’s still very early in the 2008 MLB regular season, this group of teams will almost unequivocally not hoist the 2008 World Series Trophy at season’s end.

Texas Rangers +25000 (18-20) third place AL West

This team is succeeding this season but is still at least two starters and a couple of relievers away from contending for anything other than a .500 record.

Pittsburgh Pirates +25000 (17-19) fifth place NL Central

Pittsburgh is getting better and could contend for the NL Pennant in a couple of seasons if their young players keep progressing,

Milwaukee Brewers +3500 (17-19) fourth place NL Central

The Brewers have plenty of big-boppers led by Prince Fielder – too bad their pitchers keep throwing grapefruit-sized pitches right down the middle of the plate to their opponents.

Toronto Blue Jays +3000 (17-21) last place AL East

The Blue Jays have been respectable the last few seasons, but just can’t get past the Red Sox and Yankees to win the AL East. They could however, surpass the Yankees for second place in the division this season.

Kansas City Royals +20000 (15-21) last place AL Central

Trey Hillman definitely has this club heading in the right direction, but this mess will take at least two more seasons at the least to straighten out.

Washington Nationals +25000 (15-22) last place NL East

The Nationals have a nice, brand spanking new ball park – and a team worthy of playing in a glass-strewn parking lot.

Colorado Rockies +7000 (15-22) third place NL West

The Rockies have plenty of solid young hitters on the roster but have just one starter I think could start for any team in baseball which is a tough way to win in the majors.

Cincinnati Reds +8000 (15-22) last place NL Central

10 Ken Griffey Junior’s couldn’t help this ballclub win, particular since their pitching staff reminds me of the middle school team I played on three decades ago.

San Francisco Giants +25000 (15-22) third place NL West

The Giants decided not to bring Barry Bonds back because they say needed youth in the worst way. What this team needs is a pitcher not name Tim Lincecum, who can actually get batters out on a consistent basis.

San Diego Padres +7500 (13-24) last place NL West

I can think of five legendary managers off hand that wouldn’t be able to win with this poor ballclub, which needs an infusion of youth and competent pitching in the worst way.
