MLB Baseball Betting - Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs
Monday’s rain soaked battle between the ‘Brew Crew’ and the ‘Cubbies’ gave all us NL Central fans a glimpse of what’s to come throughout the rest of the 2008 MLB campaign. Both of these clubs look to be very competitive with one another, and the closely contested 4-3 Brewers win certainly didn’t disappoint, unless you’re a Cubs fan. Both Ben Sheets and Carlos Zambrano pitched brilliantly in their season debuts. Sheets went 6 1/3rd innings giving up 2 hits and no runs while striking out 7 and issuing 2 free passes. Zambrano went 6 2/3rd innings giving up 3 hits and no runs while striking out 5 Brewers and walking one. It wasn’t until the 9th inning that a run was pushed across the plate. The Brewers roughed Cubs closer Kerry Wood up pretty good, and managed to put three runs on the board. The Cubs then answered with three of their own in the bottom of the 9th when prized free agent acquisition Kosuke Fukudome belted a three-run homer to right center field off Brewers closer Eric Gagne. Wrigley Field erupted joyously after that smash, but the joy turned to disgust when the Brewers answered right back with a run in the 10th and held on for the victory.
