    Default Yanks making great moves

    So yea I am a Yankees fan...but these few deals the Yanks have made so far this off-season are BEAUTIFUL.

    The Granderson Deal:
    I'll break this trade down nice and easy. The Yanks get Granderson, and above average outfielder who has good upside. They got rid of Coke, who was solid as a lefty specialist, and Ian Kennedy, who can possibly become a average MLB starter one day. The biggest loss for the Yanks I believe though was top prospect Austin Jackson. But in reality, Jackson really only has the potential to become a "Granderson." So, why gamble...lets get a solid outfielder now cause that's what we need.

    The Vasquez Deal:
    As a Yankee fan I know I was a bit surprised to hear this deal. We all remember Vasquez on the mound as a Yankee and balls were flying over fences every time he went out there. But he's settled down in the NL, and he had a career season last year. In reality, he's a hell of an addition to the Yanks rotation. Sure we'll miss Melky, he's Melky. But with the addition of Granderson, this trades fine with me. Payroll cuts in Atlanta allowed us to pull off a giant one-sided trade.

    a) I agree with the Granderson deal;
    b) As long as Vazquez keeps striking people out the way he has the past couple of seasons, he'll be fine. But what about a guy like Pettitte in the rotation? He's no spring chicken; how much longer do you think he'll still be effective?
    c) What do you think of the Randy Winn move for some bench depth?

    The Yanks are definatley feeling the economic pinch these days by the looks these deals and the fact the didn't re-sign Damon.
