    Cubs vs Phillies

The Cubs open up a three game series against the Phillies that is an key series for both these teams. The Phillies lead in the East is down to 3 1/2 games while the Cubs have fallen 3 back of the Cards.

My prediction: Phillies take 2/3 winning Tuesday and Thursdays games.

Phillies grabbed the first one, and Pedro gets his shot in game two. I'm still sticking with my original prediction, but a win tonight by Philly would be a bonus.

Pullin' for Pedro tonight in game 2. He still has some left in the tank. Important game on the line.

I never was a big Pedro fan, but as a Phillies fan I'm pulling for him as well. It would be a great story to see him come back and pitch well.

Phillies pound the Cubs 12-5 and Pedro gets his first win as a Phillie. Although he had incredible run support early, Martinez looked pretty good and appears to have enough left to help the Phils down the stretch.

These Phillies remind me so much of the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates, a.k.a. The Lumber Company!! Those guys were just awesome, and they had enough pitching to win the pennant and World Series vs. Baltimore. They didn't have flashy pitchers, but they were all workman, and they kept those Pirates in every game.

If the Phillies continue to play like they did against the Cubs down the stretch, they are going to be tough to beat.

So far Cliff Lee has been lights out
