Default San Francisco at N.Y. Mets MLB Gambling Pick

MLB Baseball Betting Odds - San Francisco at N.Y. Mets

BetUS MLB Betting Odds: N.Y. Mets -115, San Francisco -105; Total 7.5

The New York Mets (45-44), who have won three straight games to get themselves over the .500 mark, will try and continue their spirited play on Tuesday night when play host to the San Francisco Giants (39-50) in National League action that is set to begin at 7:10 PM ET at Shea Stadium (natural turf) in Flushing Meadow.

Michael Pelfrey (6-6, 4.23 ERA) will make the start for the Mets. He will be opposed by fellow right-hander Tim Lincecum (9-1, 2.50 ERA), who has just been named to the All-Star team as one of the Giants' representatives.

At BetUS online sportsbook, New York is listed as a -115 MLB betting favorite (San Francisco is -105), with a total of 7.5 runs (the Over is -120, while the Under is even money).

Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this sports wagering matchup:

* SF has played four of its last five games OVER the total
* SF has won 13 of its last 19 road games
* SF has played five of its last six road games UNDER the total
* NY has won four of its last five games
* NY has played five of its last seven games OVER the total
* NY has lost four of its last six home games

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD sports betting trends:

* NY has won six of the last eight meetings
* Four of the last six meetings have gone OVER the total
* NY has won 10 of the last 14 meetings as the home team

After four wins in five games, the Mets find themselves back in the thick of things in the National League East. New York is within 2.5 games of the first-place Philadelphia Phillies, and has put a little distance between itself and the Atlanta Braves, who are behind them in the division. The Mets took three out of four against Philadelphia and won a stirring 10-9 decision last night as David Wright went yard with four RBI's and Pedro Martinez turned in 5-1/3 solid innings on the mound.

Meanwhile, San Francisco, even at eleven games under the .500 mark, is not out of it in the NL West, thanks to the floundering Arizona Diamondbacks, who have squandered their lead and are tied with the Dodgers now at the top.The Giants are just five games in back of the lead and are sitting at 22-22 on the road, which makes them one of only three teams in the National League who are at least even away from home (St. Louis and Philadelphia are the others).

Five of Michael Pelfrey's last seven starts have been nothing short of outstanding; in fact, in four of those starts he has given up one run or less. Last time out he went seven innings against the Cardinals and gave up six hits and a run, striking out six batters. In his last two outings, the Mets have scored 26 runs. And New York has won his last five starts, which is quite a turnaround, considering they had at one point lost seven consecutive games with him as the starter.

Tim Lincecum has been named to the National League All-Star team, is on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and is a leading contender for the Cy Young award. In his first 13 starts, he gave up more than two runs only four times, and even though he recently went through a "slump" where he gave up nine runs in 12 combined innings to the Tigers and Royals, he has come back relatively strongly, blanking Oakland over seven innings on June 28, then surrendering three runs in six frames to the Cubs five days ago. In his last three starts, he has gone 18 innings and struck out 27 batters.

Lincecum is among the upper echelon of pitchers in the National League these days. When given the opportunity to grab his side as an underdog, we'll take it. Go with the Giants, the -105 underdog in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
