| MLB Baseball Wagering - Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros What’s going on in Astroland? Man! How do you try to kill your general manager, Shawn Chacon? For those who haven’t kept up, Chacon grabbed Ed Wade by the throat and then threw the ‘Stros general manager to the ground. Chacon is suspended at this time. So, the Astros will be without their best pitcher for who knows how long. That could be an issue since this team has lost six out of their last seven games. On Thursday night Houston starts pitcher Wandy Rodriguez. Rodriguez can be hot or cold. His ERA so far this season is a very good 2.81, but his record is only 2 and 3 out of the nine games he has started. That means that his teammates rarely step it up for him. For baseball betting fans, Wandy is usually a play against. There’s just no telling how he’s going to do when he takes the mound. The Texas Rangers counter Rodriguez with pitcher Kevin Millwood. The old pro is having another decent season going 5 and 3 with an ERA of 4.61. He gives up some runs, no doubt, but usually keeps the game under control to help not only his teammates but MLB betting fans as well. Here are the BetUS online sportsbook MLB betting odds for this game. Texas Rangers Kevin Millwood – R + 1 ½ - 190 + 110 O 9 - 115 Houston Astros Wandy Rodriguez – L - 1 ½ + 160 - 130 U 9 - 105 Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game. The Texas Rangers are 1 and 5 in their last 6 games following a victory. The Texas Rangers are 2 and 12 in Kevin Millwood’s last 14 starts as an underdog on the road. The Houston Astros are 7 and 20 in their last 27 overall games. The Houston Astros are 1 and 4 in their last 5 interleague games at home. Just looking at the above trends, I’m sort of confused as to who really wants to win this game. Okay, I’m sure both teams want to win but where should my online wagering money go? Neither the Rangers nor the Astros have an advantage in this game. That means that I have to be smart about making my online bet. That means that I have to think beyond the obvious - - the fact that the Astros are at home - - and concentrate on getting the most out of my online wagering dollars. I have to go with the Rangers at above even money on the BetUS money-line. Why? Because in a game where nobody knows how either team is likely to play, it’s always a good idea to take the overlay. In this case the Texas Rangers are the overlay at + 110 on the BetUS online betting board. That’s where my money is going. Last edited by Qbins Missile Crisis : 06-26-2008 at 02:35 PM. |
