Default Brewers vs. Braves MLB Gambling Preview | Free Pick

MLB Baseball Betting Odds - Milwaukee at Atlanta
BetUS MLB Betting Odds: Milwaukee -125, Atlanta +105; Total 8

The Atlanta Braves (38-39) will try to climb back to the .500 level on Monday night when they take on the Milwaukee Brewers (41-34) in a National League game that will begin at 7:10 PM ET at Turner Field (natural turf) in Atlanta.

Right-hander Ben Sheets (8-1, 2.74 ERA) will take the mound for the Brewers, while Jo-Jo Reyes (3-4, 4.05 ERA), a southpaw, is the starter for the Braves.

At BetUS online sportsbook, Milwaukee is listed as a -125 sports betting favorite (Atlanta is +105), with a total of eight runs (the Over is -120, while the Under is even money).

Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this online wagering matchup:

    * MIL has won six of its last seven games
    * MIL has played eight of its last 11 games OVER the total
    * MIL has won three of its last four road games
    * ATL has won six of its last ten games
    * ATL has played five of its last eight games UNDER the total
    * ATL has lost four of its last six home games
    * ATL has played four of its last six home games UNDER the total
In the HEAD-TO-HEAD sports betting trends:

    * ATL has won five of the last eight meetings
    * ATL has won three of the last four meetings as the home team
    * Six of the last seven meetings have gone UNDER the total

Atlanta has not necessarily been in a big slump, but the Braves have had a hard time building up any kind of meaningful momentum. They sport a record of 27-12 record at Turner Field, but they were really sizzling there until a recent stretch where they lost four of their last six home games. They are a game ahead of the Mets in the win column, but still two games behind in the loss column, and both teams are still within striking distance of the division front-runners, Philadelphia and Florida.

Milwaukee is playing some of its best ball of the season, winning six of its last seven games and getting seven games above .500, and they're threatening to make it a real three-way race with the Cards and Cubs in the NL Central. Ryan Braun has been held without a homer or RBI over his last four games, but Prince Fielder has more than made up for it, blasting two round-trippers in Sunday's 7-3 win over Orioles. Fielder, who hit 50 homers last season, now has 16 on the year, and he's hitting .341 over his last 36 games. Second baseman Rickie Weeks, a run producer despite hitting for a low average, is now off the DL.

There is more cause for optimism in the Milwaukee camp tonight because Ben Sheets takes the mound. Sheets has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, winning eight of nine decisions. When he is starting, Milwaukee is 10-4. The opposition has hit just .230 against him, and he has allowed more than three runs in only two outings this season.

Jo-Jo Reyes was a problem for the Brewers on May 28, when he held them to one run and only two hits over seven innings. That seems to be the kind of performance he is fully capable of providing; in fact, last time out he also held the high-powered Texas Rangers to a single run in a seven-inning stint. Seven of Reyes' ten starts have gone under the total.

We like Milwaukee's recent form, which is not a fluke, since this team contended for the wild card last year. Atlanta seemed to have something of an aura of "invincibility" earlier on, but that has dissipated a bit. As such, we can see siding with the Brewers, who are 14-6 against left-handed starters, and their tall, talented starting pitcher, even as a -125 road favorite in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.

    JAY'S PLAY: MILWAUKEE (-125)
