The Toronto Blue Jays and the Pittsburgh Pirates battle Saturday night in the second of a three game interleague series. The Blue Jays still have a shot to make it into the playoffs. The Pirates are pretty much done in the National League, but that’s okay. This Pirates team has shown enough grit all year for baseball betting fans to consider them to be on the right track. They send pitcher Paul Maholm to the mound. Maholm is a young guy, being born in 1982, and still has a ways to go before becoming a dominant pitcher. But considering he throws for the Pirates, he’s not all that bad. His ERA is a respectable 4.45 and his record on the season is 4 and 5.

The Blue Jays counter with terrific pitcher Jesse Litsch. Litsch is actually younger then Maholm being born in 1985. His progression has been quicker as well. His record on the season is 7 and 3 and his ERA is 3.70. He should definitely be an MLB betting favorite in this game.

Where my online wager money will go depends solely on how big of a favorite Jesse Litsch is. If for some reason, Litsch goes off as the underdog in this game then forget it.

I can’t bet him at – 200 + 1 ½ runs. But if Litsch goes off as the favorite, which I believe he will, giving up the 1 ½ runs at + online odds will be the bet to make.

The Blue Jays are a much better team then the Pirates and Litsch will get all of the run support that he needs while Paul Maholm and the rest of the Pirates will struggle in this game.
