    Final Score: Yankees4, Reds 1

    Bronx, NY (My Sportsbook)
    - Andy Pettitte pitched six shutout innings to win his third straight start and Jason Giambi drove in two runs and scored twice, as the New York Yankees salvaged the finale of a three-game series against Cincinnati with a 4-1 victory over the Reds. Robinson Cano and Jorge Posada also knocked in a run apiece for the Yankees, who had won seven in a row before dropping the first two games of this series. Pettitte (8-5) yielded just four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. He has been brilliant since a 10-run debacle against Kansas City on June 7, allowing just one run on 14 hits over 21 innings of his last three starts. The veteran lefty is 5-0 in his last seven outings and hasn't lost since May 17 against the Mets. Ken Griffey Jr. homered for the Reds, who lost for the sixth time in their last eight games. Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto each stroked a pair of hits in defeat. Cincinnati rookie Johnny Cueto (5-8) pitched well in five innings, but lost his third straight start. He gave up one run on four hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Final Score: Atlanta 8, Seattle 3

    Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook)
    - Mark Teixeira smacked three home runs and Tim Hudson hurled seven shutout innings in Atlanta's 8-3 drubbing of the Seattle Mariners in the rubber match of a three-game interleague set. Teixeira connected on a pair of round-trippers from the left side of the plate and crushed a two-run shot right-handed, accounting for four RBI in Atlanta's second straight win. It was the slugger's second career three-homer effort. Hudson (8-5), who surrendered a season-high six runs in his last outing, was just as impressive for the Braves, giving up just four hits and four walks, while striking out two. Brian McCann had two hits, including a home run, and Ruben Gotay recorded a two-run single during the Braves' 14-hit barrage. Seattle starter Carlos Silva (3-9) was lit up for four runs on nine hits in just four innings of work, as the right-hander remained winless in his last 10 outings. Jeff Clement slammed a two-run homer for the Mariners, who have dropped seven of nine.

Final Score: Boston 5, St. Louis 3 (13 innings)

    Boston, MA (My Sportsbook)
    - Kevin Youkilis blasted a game-winning two-run homer off Mike Parisi in the bottom of the 13th inning as Boston downed St. Louis, 5-3, to avoid a sweep in the finale of a three-game interleague set at Fenway Park. Mike Lowell greeted Parisi (0-3) by ripping a single of the famed Green Monster before Youkilis, who also homered in the seventh inning, drilled an inside fastball over the Monster in left-center. Dustin Pedroia finished 4-for-5 with a run scored for the Red Sox, who have won three of their past five games and now lead the AL East by 1 1/2 games. Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins each went 2-for-4 and knocked in a run for the Phillies, who had their season-long losing streak extended to five games. Cole Hamels (7-5) rebounded from a rocky second inning to toss seven solid frames, as he allowed three runs on six hits, with four strikeouts and no walks, but dropped the decision.

Final Score: Houston 3, Tampa Bay 2

    St. Petersburg, FL (My Sportsbook)
    - Carlos Lee's two-run home run in the sixth inning proved to be the difference as Houston edged Tampa Bay, 3-2, in the rubber match of a three-game interleague set. It was the first time since April 18-20 that the Rays were on the losing end of a series at Tropicana Field. Tampa Bay, which is 30-13 at home, had taken nine straight series in Florida. Hunter Pence also homered for the Astros, who won for just the second time in 11 games. Brandon Backe (5-8) allowed two runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Wesley Wright, Chris Sampson, Doug Brocail and Jose Valverde combined to finish things from there. Evan Longoria had a two-run home run for the Rays, who managed just six hits in the game. - Frank Catalanotto and Jarrod Saltalamacchia had run-scoring singles in the eighth, as the Texas Rangers edged the Washington Nationals, 5-3, in the finale of a three-game interleague series at Nationals Park. Both starters were dealing out of the gate. Texas' Vicente Padilla (10-3) allowed three baserunners through five before two homers plated three runs in the sixth and seventh. Hernandez (8-4) tossed a savvy seven frames, allowing three runs -- one earned -- on nine hits and a walk while fanning five. Webb (11-4) was victimized by costly fielding and baserunning mistakes but still allowed five runs - four earned - on eight hits through seven innings. Webb is now a subpar 2-4 with a no-decision in his last seven starts, missing a chance to pass Anaheim's Joe Saunders for the league lead in wins. Alexi Casilla and Brian Buscher both had two hits and two runs batted in while scoring once for the Twins.
