The Angels will turn to veteran right-hander Ervin Santana, (8-3, 3.40 ERA) who is coming off his worst performance of the season in his last outing as he allowed a season-high six runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings of the Angels’ 9-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.

"I still made good pitches, but I guess those were the pitches they were looking for," Santana said.
Philadelphia will counter with their own right-handed veteran in Adam Eaton, (2-4, 4.57) who also took a loss in his last start after allowing three runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings of Philadelphia’s 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.

Eaton is 2-1 with a 6.52 ERA in four career starts against the Angels.

Angels’ outfielder Garret Anderson is a scorching 6-for-13 with a home run against Eaton, though Eaton has limited his opponent to three or fewer runs in five straight starts.

The Angels took two of three from Philadelphia in Anaheim in June 2003, the only other time these teams have met.

Analysis: I’m usually ripping Philadelphia’s Adam Eaton for his often mediocre performances, but I won’t since he’s actually been throwing the ball very well in his last five starts. While I believe that Ervin Santana is the ‘better’ starting pitcher in this matchup, I am going advise the BetUS online MLB sports wagering community to take Eaton and the Phillies to win this contest with Philadelphia breaking out their big bats against the inconsistent Santana who looks like a Hall of Fame-bound hurler in one start and a Triple-A reliever the next time out.
