The Cleveland Indians (33-39), who have not gotten offense going for the last two games, will try to avoid a three-game losing streak on Thursday when they take on the Colorado Rockies (30-42) in a sports betting interleague contest that is set to get underway at 9:05 PM ET at Coors Field in Denver.

It's a battle of southpaws; Jeremy Sowers (0-1, 7.24 ERA) of the Indians takes on Jorge De La Rosa (1-3, 7.39 ERA) of the Rockies.

Last night's game saw the Rockies, in last place in the National League West, score their second straight win over Cleveland, as Jeff Francis put forth a nice effort in going six innings in a 4-2 Colorado triumph. The Rockies remain seven games in back of Arizona. Cleveland is 7.5 games behind the White Sox in the American League Central.

Jeremy Sowers has not gotten out of the fifth inning in either of his last two starts. On June 8 he surrendered five runs and seven hits against the Detroit Tigers, then came back last Friday to yield nine hits and four runs in just 4-1/3 against San Diego.

Jorge De La Rosa turned in a great performance last time, as he held the White Sox to a single hit in five innings, striking out six and walking one batter in a 2-0 Colorado win. But De La Rosa's strong efforts have not happened that often; in fact, on May 26 he was blown away in 3-1/3 innings in a 20-5 Rockies loss to the Phillies, allowing six runs.

Colorado has won four of its last five games, although the Rockies, the defending National League champs, aren't making a huge impact in the division yet, they are not completely out of it, not when you consider the furious run they made at the close of last season to achieve the wild card and set the stage for their playoff run. The Rockies have a 20-34 record against right-handed starters, but a 10-8 mark against southpaws. And while we're talking about trends, the Indians are 8-14 in the role of the underdog.

We are not impressed with Cleveland right now. But Colorado is showing sins of life. We'll side with the Rockies, the -125 favorite in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
