Wagering Online on Horses and Padding Your Bankroll

National horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey will attempt to pad his bankroll and yours with his daily column. He will feature at least one Pick 3 or Pick 4 play from a major track along with coverage of major stakes races, longshots, and he will keep you up to date on what is happening on the circuits he covers.

Saturday’s Kentucky Derby may be the main course, but there is quite an array of appetizers today at the Louisville track. There is an eleven race card featuring six stakes races.

The highlight of the day is the Kentucky Oaks (G1). Eight Belles is the 5/2 morning line favorite but will scratch out of the race to go in the Derby.

That leaves a solid field of eleven three-year-old fillies. Proud Spell is likely to go off as the favorite, but we’ll look for a “sharp” filly to beat her. The Oaks is part of our Late Pick 3 play today from Churchill Downs.
