DUBAI (AP) - Horse of the Year Curlin has overpowered an international field to win the $6 million Dubai World Cup.
The 4-year-old sensation stormed into the lead in midstretch and cruised to a 7 3/4 -length victory in the world’s richest horse race at Nad al Sheba racetrack.
Curlin has won his last four races in convincing fashion to establish himself as the world’s top thoroughbred. The powerful son of Smart Strike came into the race off victories in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the Jaguar Trophy Handicap.
Asiatic Boy was second and Well Armed third in the 12-horse field.
