In the USA, if one were to say, "
Son Of Slam", most would interpret the phrase to mean Shaquille O'Neal. But in this case, the master dunkster Son Of Slam is a suberbly bred race horse. If there were such thing as North American Royalty, by birth right he is the prince. May I elaborate? This longbow drawn is right stuff. Separate bloodlines include Secretariat, Najinski, Alydar, Spectacular Bid, Key To the Mint, Mr. Prospector, 4x5 Northern Dancer, 5x5x5 Bold Ruler, and 4x5x5 Raise A Native (whom was Man O' War's best breeding grandson).
I say Son Of Slam would be prince because the king is Casino Drive, far the fastest, and, finest bred racehorse in the world in my opinion. Bad Bad Boy here>
2008 Peter Pan Stakes and Bold Ruler Handicap
So anyway, Son Of Slam is unarguably bred of right stuff, but in 5 maiden starts he is 0-0-0, banking a scant $3000. Today, he races in the open 3 year old class and out of the tough and testy maiden allowance races. #3 Son Of Slam will fire from the 3 hole in this a mile and a sixteeth trounce on the turf. The 4/1 morning line is reflective of his class drop here, and all that need happen is for Son Of Slams right stuff genes to ignite and it's baby gone bye bye!
Top 3 Monmouth jockey, D Cohen rides for trainer D Ryan. Ryan is said to excel with youngsters, and to get the trainer nod on this hi-bred boy only adds confidence in that he has a few good conections. Monmouth top jock, J Lezcano, will likely make a run on 2-1 favorite # 2 Not So Sure, and top money grabber #8 Groovy Kid will try to get up from far outside.
I'm going in for a slam dunk with
Son Of Slam for $10 to WIN and PLACE ($20 bet). I'll also play a $1 TRIFECTA KEY with Son Of Slam over Not So Sure + Groovy Kid (3-2-8). Go Baby Go!!
