Before I get into this weekend’s horse racing betting stakes action, I want to write a few words about the brilliant filly Nashoba’s Key. Nashoba’s Key tragically had to be euthanized this past Wednesday because of a freak accident that occurred in her barn. She kicked the barn door hard enough to break her leg. There was nothing that anybody could do about it.
The reason I bring this is up is because Nashoba’s Key was one of the most brilliant racehorses I have ever seen in the flesh. She could practically do anything that her jockey, the young Joe Talamo, wanted her to do. To say that big plans were in the works for Nashoba’s Key is an understatement. It’s a tragedy worth mentioning in this day and age where organizations like PETA go out of their way to blame anybody they can think of when a freak accident occurs. Perhaps, PETA, you should send god a memo for making the wood too hard that they used to make the door that Nashoba’s Key kicked to hard that caused her leg to break.
