Default Belmont Stakes Betting Odds - Who is Big Brown?

Horse racing can sometimes be a misunderstood sports betting event. For instance, because of the fact that no horse can ever saddle or ride himself, we tend to over emphasize the human element when discussing the overall talents of a horse.

This is definitely true when it comes to Big Brown, the UPS named gigantic son of Danzig who destroyed his competition in the 2008 Kentucky Derby and 2008 Preakness.

Because we have been so caught up in the fact that Richard Dutrow, Big Brown’s trainer, has a human story - - getting over drug addiction - - and his jockey, Kent Desormeaux, was oh so close to winning the 1998 Belmont Stakes, and the Triple Crown aboard Real Quiet, we’ve lost fact of the single most important element in horse racing.

I think Eight Belles & BB are the two tops that even those who dont follow all races will notice just by name along. And lately BB has been a household name for afew I know with the injury and all that jazz.

I think that you made a great point - we do tend to think of horse racing as being a sport based on human skill, but that human skill can only go so far. After that it's up to the horse's skills.

I know Eight Bells of course due to all the recent controversy, but I hadn't heard of Big Brown before. Interesting article.

How much money do you have down on that and by what reason did you come to state it? I am wondering more if its from BB's parents and grandparents or just stats alone.

Sometimes you just have to go with the obvious.

Facing only one Kentucky Derby rival and 11 other horses whose trainers and owners are just taking a shot, Big Brown will cruise to victory

Big Brown is definitely a favorite of everybody's, or so it seems. Betting 500 is a lot, but from what I have been able to research, that is money well bet.

Qbins thanks for the info. It seems most articles out there right now are just poking around of the equines breed, which isn't a problem or anything I'm not knocking it, I'm just trying to see what some others are going for. I have gone with my gut a great deal so I'm sure the differences between your bets and mine are a little like polar opposites.

Big Brown is definitely set to win, I think that at this point there is just no reason to not bet on him. My sister-in-law is absolutely crazy about BB.

Big brown is the only back to back Triple Crown Winner or did I misread an article earlier today on this (somewhere online, not here on this site mind you)?
