Richard Dutrow, Big Brown’s overconfident trainer, doesn’t believe that the injury Big Brown has suffered will have any affect on how he runs in the 2008 Belmont Stakes on June 7th. Did we expect anything else? Dutrow always is confident and Big Brown has dominated his rivals in his last three races.
Dutrow’s confidence has spread to the ridiculous notion that Casino Drive, the brilliant Japanese superstar, has no chance to beat Big Brown in the Belmont Stakes. Now, according to Dutrow, the injury that Big Brown has suffered will have no bearing on how he runs in the Belmont. I’m beginning to think that Dick Dutrow is back on the sauce. Maybe his brother Anthony should take him aside and whisper in his ear that this is not the way to prepare a horse for the last leg of the Triple Crown.
Dick, the gods of racing are already trying to instill some humility into you by giving your “super-horse” a slight injury. Take the gift, shut the hell up, and make sure that Big Brown is ready on June 7th. We sports betting enthusiasts are counting on it as we feverishly wait with anticipation in our off track betting shelters. This includes forgetting about Casino Drive. If they ask you if the Japanese horse has a chance to win say, “Anything can happen once the gates open.”
