The Montreal Canadiens' historic domination of the Boston Bruins continued on Monday night at the Bell Centre in Quebec.
Backed by the loudest crowd in the NHL, the hometown Habs beat the visiting B's 5-0 in Game 7, advancing to the second round of the playoffs in the process.
Montreal got two goals from Andrei Kostitsyn with singles by Mike Komisarek, Sergei Kostitsyn and Mark Streit. Rookie goalie Carey Price was brilliant, especially early, to earn the shutout and bounce back from consecutive questionable performances.
For the Bruins, it was yet another loss to the hated Habs. As ESPN.com's Bill Simmons wrote today: "When I was growing up in Massachusetts, every spring the Canadiens would shatter the Bruins in the most agonizing way possible. Sometimes the Canadiens would sweep us and leave us for dead; sometimes they would carry us for seven games, make us think we had a chance, then rip our hearts out right at the end."
Ah, just like old times.
