NHL Hockey Wagering Preview – Ovechkin, Capitals Almost Sweep At Ceremony
The NHL sports betting season has come to a close, and here stands World Champion, Alexander Ovechkin, with the Lester B. Pearson Trophy, the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, the Art Ross Trophy and the Hart Trophy. Maybe you don’t know what all that means. All you really have to be concerned with is that these credentials now make Ovechkin a certified bad-ass.
Even more impressive was Washington’s coach winning the Coach of the Year award, also known as the Jack Adams Award. Bruce Boudreau was hired midway through the online wagering season, and led the Capitals to a 37-17-7 record after he was hired. He beat Guy Carbonneau of the surprising Canadiens and Mike Babcock of the Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings for the illustrious award, which honestly belonged to Boudreau for all he accomplished this season.
The Capitals won’t be +800 hockey gambling dogs to win the Southeast Division again this year, but their chances are just as good. They brought in Cristobel Huet to bolster a net that had been manned by Olaf “Godzilla” Kolzig for far too long. The Caps defense wasn’t that great, but Huet was a huge help. With Mike Green returning to hold down the blue line with Tom Poti, the Capitals need to bring in some more help to protect their net.
Offense, on the other hand, will not be a problem. Nicklas Backstrom, who was a runner up for the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year, assumed a huge role in the offensive wheel of the Caps with 69 points. Meanwhile Alexander Semin finally recovered from a sprained ankle to notch 42 points. The youth and vigor of the Capitals has everyone in the nation’s capital excited for the NHL to drop the puck.
When we release our NHL futures in the coming weeks, whose side are you going to be on? There’s not much scarier on the ice then a Russian who is blood thirsty for the Cup. The only thing scarier? Three of them.
