Lots of history this week as online betting and the PGA swing back into Texas for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. It’s the 2nd longest running sports betting tournament on the PGA and has been rolling for more than 60 years; only the Masters at Augusta National has been around longer.
The field this week is filled with quality players including 8 of the top 25 in the world.
Rory Sabbatini won it last year in a playoff over Bernard Langer and Jim Furyk, the first three-man playoff in the event’s long history. On the first hole, they all safely hit the fairway with their drives and the green with their approaches. Jim Furyk had the first crack with a 34-foot putt for birdie, but missed. Sabbatini drained his 15-foot birdie putt, while Langer missed his short putt to give Sabbatini his 4th career win.
