It's not exactly news that Tiger Woods underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after finishing second at the Masters. But this might be: It looks like the PGA Tour might have to do without its biggest star for quite some time, according to new reports.
The Los Angeles Times wrote on Tuesday that Woods could be shutting it down until the U.S. Open, which goes in the beginning of June and means he'd miss – among others – the Wachovia at Quail Hollow, The Players at TPC Sawgrass and the Memorial at Muirfield Village.
It leaves the tour in the unenviable position of promoting the rest of its roster of non-Tigers for almost two months. That on the heels of a less-than-scintillating major at Augusta.
"Of course, we're disappointed when Tiger is unable to compete in a PGA Tour event," commissioner Tim Finchem said on the tour's website. "There is really never a good time for an athlete - especially one of Tiger's caliber - to take weeks off from competition during the season. But his health concerns have to come first."
So... FedExCup, anyone? That's pretty exciting, no?
