| A Buffet of Betting at the Masters A sample of the many golf props on the board, with analysis April 9, 2008 By Jason Brough Bodog Nation Contributing Writer Wagering on golf is usually pretty straightforward. You can pick the outright winner. You can pit two or three guys against each other. And, uh, that's about it. But this is Masters week, a quasi-religious time for golf fans. It's also the Tiger Woods era on the PGA Tour – for many, it's all Eldrick or nothing In other words, most people don't care about Brandt Snedeker's odds to win a green jacket (100/1, if you must know). The year's first major is the closest thing to the Super Bowl that the world of golf offers, and bettors want their sportsbooks to act accordingly. According to the oddsmakers, one sub-70 round (15/8) is the most likely for Woods. Next comes zero at 9/4, followed by two (5/2), three (7/1) and four (16/1). Last year, Woods finished second to Zach Johnson and didn't fire a round lower than 72. Granted, Augusta National was a dry, hard beast in 2007. Johnson's score, a plus-one 289, was the highest winning score in the tournament's history. When Woods last pulled on the green jacket in 2005, he shot below 70 twice. He shot three sub-70 rounds when he blew the field away in 1997, finishing at a record 18-under, 12 shots ahead of second-place Tom Kite. More...
