Default Tiger Woods Roars to the PGA Masters

Tiger Woods has been taking everyone to school on the golf course, and now he’s going for his Masters.

    Tiger on the Prowl

We’re just waiting for Tiger Woods to drop his putter and turn to the cameras and ask, “Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?” At this point, it might be. The exclusive doors to the Augusta National Golf Club have now opened to let the world in. They won’t be coming to watch gladiators do battle, but thousands of people will flood to the shrine in Augusta, Georgia to witness the 2008 Masters. As the saying goes, we are all witnesses. Unless you have been living in a cave with your eyes closed and your ears plugged for the past year, you have been witness to the historical and magnificent domination of the golf world by Tiger Woods. Woods has simply been on fire. Despite a fifth place finish in the WGC-CA Championship, Woods has looked almost unbeatable in 2008. Of the four events Tiger has entered in, he has finished first in three of them. He ranks first on the PGA tour money list (obviously), first in greens hit in regulation at an immaculate 74.5 percent clip and first in birdies made per round. This week, Tiger looks to add to his growing list of accolades by winning the Masters… again.

It’s almost too much lip service for Woods. Yes, he’s good; yes, he’s the best, arguably of all time - but Tiger Woods is making the difficult and ever-challenging game of golf look easy. Real easy (too easy is a stretch), but we might have to take it there if Woods continues to romp the competition. Even the commercials for the Majors are all about whether Tiger, and no one else, is going to make history. Up until his fifth place finish, the ad line was, “Watch as Tiger goes for the perfect season.” Perfect season? Excuse me, in golf? Thankfully, Tiger went “Pats” on us and it didn’t happen.
