Online Golf Betting Preview – The Memorial The PGA pulls into Jack's place in Dublin, Ohio this week for The Memorial at the Muirfield Village Golf Club for some online sports betting action.
This tournament, hosted by Jack Nicklaus since 1976, always brings out a large field and this year 120 golfers are taking part - the most ever at this tournament – although world number 4 Adam Scott and world number 9 Vijay Singh will not be taking part this week.
Tiger Woods is the only 3-time winner at The Memorial but is still out letting his knee heal. Tiger officially announced his return today by committing to play in the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in California on July 7th.
So with Tiger out for another week, Phil Mickleson will try for back to back golf betting payouts and is the PGA betting favorite again this week at 6.5/1. Lefty's best finish at the Memorial is 4th, and last year he pulled out after 11 holes with a wrist injury.
Sergio Garcia had a recent win at The Players and takes with him a bit more confidence into this week as he makes his 8th start at the Memorial. Sergio’s best finish at this event was second in 2001 when he and Paul Azinger tied at 10 under, a good 7 strokes back of Tigers Woods that day. Try out Sergio at 16/1
Stewart Cink sits at 18/1 and has made 10 straight cuts at this tournament. With this season’s 6 top-10’s, something has to give - he’s finished second twice and third twice, maybe this week he finally finishes first.
Jim Furyk is also a good bet at 20/1. In a dozen starts at the Memorial he has 4 top-10's and a win back in 2002. After missing the cut last week, the man with the strange swing could be just mad enough to win at Jack's place.
K.J. Choi - the defending champ at 28/1 - hasn't been on his game of late missing his last 2 cuts. He does have a win this year though, unfortunately it was way back in January at the Sony Open, just the second event of the season.
Kenny Perry (33/1), a two-time winner at Memorial is due for a break that doesn't involve his ball landing the water. Feel free to lay some cash down on Perry; this could be the week his ship comes in.
Justin Rose, fresh off the European Tour, is never a bad pick with his short game, especially at 60/1.
Canadian lefty Mike Weir has been playing solid the last few weeks and looked to be a player on the rise last week at the Colonial. He has always done well at Jack’s tourney with a 3rd and 4th place finish on his resume and would be a good sleeper pick at 65/1.
This week’s long shot pick is Bo Van Pelt at 150/1. Also with those odds, Marc Calcavecchia and Chris Dimarco
