Default Wesley Snipes Gets Three Years for Tax Evasion

A judge is throwing the book at the tax evasion sensation that is Wesley Snipes who lives with the mantra that rich people who get paid a bundle for putting on costumes and "pretending" for a living shouldn't have to pay taxes.

Reportedly, Snipes not only didn't pay his taxes on his $37.9 million earnings from 1994 - 2004, he also tried to get $11.3 million in refunds. Prosecution in the Snipes case claims that in 2000, the actor joined an anti-tax protest group called American Rights Litigators. Hey man, freeways, hospitals and public education should be paid for with other people's money.

Snipes has been sentenced to three years in prison - the maximum sentence.

TMZ reports that Snipes enlisted the help of celebrity friends Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson to appeal for leniency. It didn't work.

Well, this is definitely a case in which I guess you could say justice was served. I'm glad that they aren't putting the fact that he is famous above the law, somebody who is evading taxes does deserve some type of punishment, no matter how much of a celebrity they are.
