Another day, another comprehensive victory for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets 122-107 Wednesday night to take a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference quarterfinals. Its the second straight game the Lakers have broken the 120-point plateau, something covered in detail in the latest edition of Bodog Nation. An excerpt: They can't set the totals high enough in the Denver-Los Angeles series. The Nugs' real problem is with Marcus Camby, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. With Keynon Martin out on the perimeter, Camby was left to guard the paint by himself… and let's just say that the strategy backfired miserably on Sunday. Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom combined for 53 points and 30 rebounds in the opener. Denver's problem heading into this series was containing Los Angeles' backcourt scoring. So to see Camby run roughshod by Gasol and Odom was distressing for Nuggets fans and backers alike. Barring some radical plan by George Karl to slow things down, which he seems steadfastly against, the Lakers could score over 115 points in every game of this series. Think I'm nuts? The Lake Show has already averaged 120.5 in three regular season and one playoff win thus far. Wednesday night, the Lakers were 8.5-point home favorites and covered that spread with ease. The game once again had a high total -230 points - and the result fell just short of a remarkably high posting for a playoff game.
