Violent Sport

What do you think is the most violent sport, either intentionally or unintentionally.

I think that most people will say either boxing or wrestling (if that counts, that is), but if we're going with the most unintentionally violent sport, I think I would say hockey. It gets pretty brutal sometimes.

Hockey is definitely violent. I have never been to a hockey game, but I've heard some great stories. I'd say that the fans are more violent than the actual sport though.

Rugby wins hands down

I would have to say that it is a tie between rugby or hockey. Volleyball has its moments, especially if the ball is spiked right into one of the players faces. But overall, its either hockey or rugy but both are awesome because of it

The more I think about it, the more I realize that there are tons of violent sports out there. I don't typically think of volleyball as being very violent, but I looked up some videos, and you're definitely right - it gets pretty violent.

I'd say rugby, easy. Like American football only without the padding.

For those who don't mind the blood and perhaps have a bit of a sadistic side... bloodysports dot com has pics from the most violent games. Hockey is listed right on top.

I don't know too much about rugby, so I might have to look it up and see just how violent it really can get. I have seen a few pictures from that site, and just wow, who would have known that there is so much blood involved in sports.

I forgot about rugby when I made this thread, and that is definitely one of the most brutal sports out there, tons of physical contact. I never really thought about volleyball being that violent though.

What about the sport that has the most violent fans? What sport would you attribute that to?

I think hockey is up there, but not really sure if it has the most violent fans.
