While there still remains a fundamental problem with the NBA awarding a sixth man award - if the guy is so good, shouldn't he be starting? - it is with great interest that we announce San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has won the 2008 version, earning 123 of 124 first-place votes. Ginobili ended up with 615 points, easily eclipsing last year's winner Leandro Barbosa of the Phoenix Suns, who finished in second place with 283. The third place finisher was Dallas' Jason Terry, with 44. Despite coming off the bench this year, Ginobili led the Spurs in scoring with a career-high 19.5 points per game. The last guy to do that was Milwaukee's Ricky Pierce, who did the trick in 1990 when he averaged 23 points per contest. Here's a list of the most recent winners: Year | Winner 2008 | Manu Ginobili, Spurs 2007 | Leandro Barbosa, Suns 2006 | Mike Miller, Grizzlies 2005 | Ben Gordon, Bulls 2004 | Antawn Jamison, Mavs 2003 | Bobby Jackson, Kings 2002 | Corliss Williamson, Pistons 2001 | Aaron McKie, 76ers 2000 | Rodney Rogers, Suns 1999 | Darrell Armstrong, Magic - Bodog Beat
