Default Can The Celtics Win With Minimal Contributions From Garnett?

The Celtics don't have home court advantage and they don't have a healthy KG, but can they get past the Cavaliers if everyone else plays well?

Say Garnett gives them a good 20 minutes a game but Leon Powe and Glen Davis lose their minds, which is possible since both are pretty good to begin with and both are in contract years, can the Celtics still get back to the Finals?

I know the Cavs are humming right now but if the Celtics can get some rhythm in the first two rounds, they would be capable of stealing one game in Cleveland.

I can fully see Powe or Davis having a huge playoffs then getting a big contract on the open market.

I don't see it happening. Cav's should claim the East this year easily

I'd put $$$$$ on +200 before I'd put $$$ on -170 anyday in this scenario

    Default Maybe

While I think it is unlikely I think they can go far without KG. Powe and Davis become critical but I think they could also put together an interesting lineup if they can get Starbury going. He could more than make up for KG on the scoring side and can defend some 2s with his strength. It would be interesting to see how a lineup of Marbury, Rondo, Allen, Pierce and Perkins would do over a long stretch.

Boston is going have to try and mix things up as I'm not sure they even get the chance to play Cleveland as they could go out in round two, possibly even round one. They had their run and 2009 isn't shaping up to be another.

If you had to quantify it right now, who has the better bench (overall)?

House, Powe, Davis, Marbury (if he plays...LOL) no brainer isn't it?

    Oh no...

    ---

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says there is a strong possibility that Kevin Garnett will miss the whole postseason.

The All-Star forward has missed most of the last two months with a strained right knee. He had been recovering with an eye towards the playoffs, but Rivers said he had to shut Garnett down at practice Thursday morning and "there's no way" he could play right now.

Rivers said on a radio show that Garnett was frustrated but understood that it was the right thing to do.

The defending NBA champions begin the best-of-seven first round series against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Without Garnett the Cavs will beat the Celts. Too bad too I really would like to see Boston in the finals.
