Default Tim Donaghy Sentenced to 15 Months

There has finally been a sentencing in the Tim Donaghy trial. The NBA referee who plead guilty to fixing games in order to pay off gambling debts has been sentenced to 15 months in prison. "I brought shame on myself and my family," Donaghy said. During his 15-month sentence Donaghy must undergo counseling for his gambling addiction. Get your NBA futures in the Bodog Sportsbook! ...

This is a perfect example of stupidity. Gambling is all well and good, but some people need to know when to stop. Hopefully he can overcome his addiction to gambling, because it's reason's like this why people have so much of a problem with gambling.

Tsk tsk. Some people just get it in their minds that they can use sports to their own benefit, at least financially, without actually playing. It's all fine and dandy to gamble, but if you are seriously going to try to fix games, I can't help but laugh at you. As much as I want to laugh at him though, it makes me angry. Seriously, it takes only a few bad apples to ruin it for everybody.

In all honesty, taking away his position was punishment for this man. we don't need to waste our expensive prison space on criminals like this. I mean the dude that kept a woman on a toilet for 2 years only got a year in prison and the courst are saying this is worse. What a messed up world we live in.

Perhaps fifteen months is not enough. This man commited fraud with who knows how many people's money. A sentence of five or ten years in a federal prison sounds about right to me. We have to present a strong face that shows this behavior will not be tolerated.
