Default Tiger or No Tiger, It's Still the British Open

Tiger Woods won't be at the British Open and it's probably time everyone got over it. The fact is, the world's number one golfer doesn't dominate every single major he enters. Actually, he's won just twice in his last six tries. Granted – save for the 2006 U.S. Open when he missed the cut and ...

What's compelling about the British Open is the anticipation to see who will step up in Wood's absence. It's very much a wide open game with many talented golfers.

I am glad for the sport to see other players stepping out of the shadows. Tiger Woods, I am sure, will be back - but for now, guys like Greg Norman, Villegas and a slew of others are out to prove that they play the game too.

Exactly, without Tiger in the spot light, I'm starting to take a look at players I've
not paid much attention to before, and some of them could be a big threat...
though not quite as big a threat as Phil Michelson.
Masters Champ Trevor Immelman, Justin Leonard and Anthony Kim are all doing well..
to name a few.
And what about the Aussies? Take a look at Adam Scott or Geoff Ogilvy.
Those Aussies have it all together considering they won three of the previous opens!

I agree. Most of the time players will hear golf and associate immediately with Tiger. With him not competing in the British Open, there's a chance that a new golfer who's talents would normally be overshadowed can now shine through completely.
